David Schembri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stan Wawrinka in the 11th minute of the match. Jonathan Bernaldo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gregor Kobel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Northern California were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Espen Steelers's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Antonio Guillelme took the corner. Antonio Guillelme made a great header on Northern California's corner, it was just that Espen Steelers's Gregor Kobel managed to reach the ball for a save. Espen Steelers's Gregor Kobel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Guillelme in the 20th minute of play. When Williams Imholz fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Espen Steelers's protests and gave Williams Imholz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th match minute, Espen Steelers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Williams Imholz to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandro Chorche in the 38th minute of play forced Espen Steelers's goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39thth minute of the game Gustavo Isazi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Espen Steelers's Gregor Kobel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. David Schembri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stan Wawrinka, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alain Berset to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 61st minute Rogelio Montez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Schembri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Espen Steelers's Federico Abud to fire away a dangerous shot which David Schembri despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Northern California's goal looked a bit too open when Stan Wawrinka came free, but David Schembri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
