Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Lisandro Cesario took the kick off in the first half of the match. Gilberto Mikelar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Matias Bilintx in the 3rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diego Maradona in the 4th minute of play forced Gasoleros FC's goalkeeper Gilberto Mikelar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gasoleros FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 5th minute, when Matias Bilintx scored to the left of an out of position Gilberto Mikelar, making the score, 1-0. Gilberto Mikelar came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting de Gijón's Diego Maradona. But to his dismay, Diego Maradona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Ivan Ferman charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ivan Ferman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Gasoleros FC's Ivan Ferman got a free kick in the 12th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Gasoleros FC's goal looked a bit too open when Saturnino Curcio came free, but Gilberto Mikelar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Venancio Emesto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting de Gijón's supporters rose to their feet, but Venancio Emesto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilberto Mikelar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Diego Maradona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Diego Maradona kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 23rd minute, Juan Gaskon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 23rd minute of the match Saturnino Curcio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gilberto Mikelar showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 25 minutes into the game, Saturnino Curcio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting de Gijón's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gasoleros FC the free kick. After 25 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Saturnino Curcio. 28 minutes into the match, Diego Maradona dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gilberto Mikelar, 3-0. 37 minutes into the match, Gasoleros FC's goalkeeper Gilberto Mikelar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Saturnino Curcio. After some careless play in the Gasoleros FC defense, Venancio Emesto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gilberto Mikelar. The Gasoleros FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gilberto Mikelar should have stopped the shot. Matias Bilintx struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Gilberto Mikelar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting de Gijón. After having played for 44 minutes, Matias Bilintx managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting de Gijón's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matias Bilintx was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Matias Bilintx recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.
Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Wayne Rooney replaced Alejandro Rufo. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matias Bilintx to make the kick off. In the 54th minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto Mikelar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilberto Mikelar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wayne Rooney, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Diego Maradona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto Mikelar having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mario Zanabria in the 87th minute of play forced Gasoleros FC's goalkeeper Gilberto Mikelar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Gasoleros FC's zone, Diego Maradona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilberto Mikelar came out of the goal and Diego Maradona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 89 minutes, Wayne Rooney made it 8-0 with a short kick to the right side. Gasoleros FC's Gilberto Mikelar tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Matias Bilintx came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Sporting de Gijón fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matias Bilintx couldn't finish the play. In the 94th minute Diego Maradona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto Mikelar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilberto Mikelar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Maradona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 96th minute, Gilberto Guerrero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sporting de Gijón's Saturnino Curcio couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 98th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Gasoleros FC. When the referee ended the match the Sporting de Gijón players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
