In the 8thth minute of the game João Pirani who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Joinville City - FSCMZ's Haji Sarap was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Joinville City - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Haji Sarap had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Pirani. Falcão de Godoi made in the 12th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Bebeto Leal immediately put the ball in play. 15 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goal looked a bit too open when João Francisco Arce came free, but Nelsinho Leite reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nelsinho Leite stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geovanildo Luis's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Nelsinho Leite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geovanildo Luis in the 26th minute of play. Nelsinho Leite showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovanildo Luis in the 32nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Geovanildo Luis in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelsinho Leite prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 37th minute Geovanildo Luis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelsinho Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A sloppy throw-in by Falcão de Godoi in the 39th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Joinville City - FSCMZ's Drew Zaelani. A collision led to Joinville City - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Drew Zaelani hit a great ball. 42 minutes in the game Pedrinho Vasco did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Gilmar Monteiro. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Geovanildo Luis made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Geovanildo Luis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Vascogoianiense FC's zone, Geovanildo Luis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelsinho Leite came out of the goal and Geovanildo Luis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joinville City - FSCMZ's Haji Sarap played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pirani in the 61st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Vascogoianiense FC's zone, Geovanildo Luis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nelsinho Leite came out of the goal and Geovanildo Luis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joinville City - FSCMZ made a substitution. Marcus Allbäck replaced Bernardino Llorenc. In the 65th minute, Válbson Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 79th minute Adhemar Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelsinho Leite saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vascogoianiense FC's Edmílson Fernandez was substituted for Sidnei Leão. In the 81st minute Joinville City - FSCMZ were awarded a corner. Henrique Camargo went to the cornerflag to take it. If Adhemar Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Haji Sarap took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aírton Sousa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Joinville City - FSCMZ booed when Vascogoianiense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aírton Sousa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Vascogoianiense FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Joinville City - FSCMZ had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
