Adrian Chioreanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Jardel Sanches didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from 何威庭 went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in AC米兰's zone, Pipis Karapatakis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adrian Chioreanu came out of the goal and Pipis Karapatakis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 何威庭 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Jardel Sanches tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th minute, Pipis Karapatakis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Adrian Chioreanu was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. AC米兰's Adrian Chioreanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pipis Karapatakis in the 32nd minute of play. Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio FBPA from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the AC米兰 defense, Pipis Karapatakis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adrian Chioreanu. The AC米兰 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adrian Chioreanu should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when AC米兰 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benedict Sheppard didn't get a good kick on the ball. 53 minutes into the match, AC米兰's goal looked a bit too open when Pipis Karapatakis came free, but Adrian Chioreanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Pipis Karapatakis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Adrian Chioreanu was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Pipis Karapatakis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adrian Chioreanu having to make a save. Adrian Chioreanu made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Pipis Karapatakis sent off a good shot on target. Adrian Chioreanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pipis Karapatakis in the 62nd minute of the match. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind AC米兰's goalkeeper Adrian Chioreanu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. AC米兰's Adrian Chioreanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pipis Karapatakis in the 67th minute of play. Adrian Chioreanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pipis Karapatakis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pipis Karapatakis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Adrian Chioreanu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Diamantino Cabral hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Grêmio FBPA's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
