Olov Wahlnäs didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bruno Salles went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Benedito Trigo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Chen Ao Fan went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Kurt Hamrin might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benedito Trigo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kurt Hamrin ran back to his position shaking his head. 33 minutes into the match, Sagarana Clube's Yu Yang Sang sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Olov Wahlnäs narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sagarana Clube were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after Skövde AIK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Beto Heidemann took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Benê Hoffmann got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Olov Wahlnäs quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Benedito Trigo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kevin Keegan, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Éder Madureira in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olov Wahlnäs saved Skövde AIK from getting behind. 41 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Bruno Salles came free, but Olov Wahlnäs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sagarana Clube's Benê Hoffmann got a free kick in the 46th minute. In the 47th minute, Kevin Keegan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Yu Yang Sang to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kevin Keegan during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Skövde AIK's Olov Wahlnäs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mazinho Ferraz in the 94th minute of play.
