In the 20th minute, Heigo Luiga reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Herbert Hilhorst. The goal made the score 1-0. Ricardo Baumar's late challenge caught a Verwachting's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo Baumar helped the player get up and apologised. In the 23rd minute, Ricardo Baumar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 24 played minutes, Verwachting's Christijan Schreuder shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ciriaco Macias came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Verwachting reached it. A hard shot 26 in the game by Cristo Basajaun from a close distance when the talented Herbert Hilhorst managed to make a qualified save. Verwachting's players were relieved. Ciriaco Macias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruud Geels, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristo Basajaun got free with Herbert Hilhorst in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 45th minute of the match C.A.Independiente got a corner. Verwachting's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gavril Bosioc ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led C.A.Independiente's Gavril Bosioc to fire away a dangerous shot which Herbert Hilhorst despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Herbert Hilhorst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heigo Luiga in the 46th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Twan Hesseling was the one to do the kick off. Ricardo Baumar hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. Ciriaco Macias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Twan Hesseling in the 52nd minute of play. Verwachting's Herbert Hilhorst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Indiana Jones in the 55th minute of play. Cristo Basajaun scored 2-1 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Herbert Hilhorst, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Verwachting's Herbert Hilhorst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristo Basajaun in the 61st minute of play. Herbert Hilhorst stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristo Basajaun's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Verwachting's Christijan Schreuder slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ciriaco Macias. That made the score 2-3 after 95 minutes of play. Chants of Verwachting echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as C.A.Independiente had held the ball for most of the match.
