Lev Yashin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertil Albäck in the 19th minute of play. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by Longobarda's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Herberto Mascarenhas was slow to take the kick. During this time Pénzügyőr SE's players had a chance to rest. A well done corner resulted in Tihamér Angyal drilling the ball in to score 1-0 behind Longobarda's goalkeeper. Vencel Mezei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edwin Godholm in the 25th minute of play. In the 30th minute Edwin Godholm shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vencel Mezei saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Bertil Albäck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 34th minute, Bertil Albäck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vencel Mezei showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edwin Godholm, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. A collision led to Longobarda getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Damiano Trasatti hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edwin Godholm in the 42nd minute of play forced Pénzügyőr SE's goalkeeper Vencel Mezei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bertil Albäck received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Lev Yashin came out and tried to block the shot, but Bertil Albäck slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 43rd minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 47 minutes into the game, when Cafu Martins put in a rough tackle. 47 minutes into the game, one of Longobarda:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Lev Yashin had in the 50thth minute some difficulties stopping Herberto Mascarenhas's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bertil Albäck to make the kick off. Vencel Mezei made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edwin Godholm in the 58th minute. If Anthimos Vougas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Florian Cocca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Longobarda's Lev Yashin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bertil Albäck in the 64th minute of play. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Longobarda's goalkeeper Lev Yashin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Longobarda's Anthimos Vougas in the 69th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Vencel Mezei was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Pénzügyőr SE through an amazing save. Longobarda's Edwin Godholm got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 75th minute Tihamér Angyal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lev Yashin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Longobarda getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Arnulfo Riba hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anthimos Vougas in the 83rd minute of play forced Pénzügyőr SE's goalkeeper Vencel Mezei to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lev Yashin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bertil Albäck in the 87th minute of play. Viktor Szaniszló fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lev Yashin having to interfere. Longobarda's Fabiano Canzano was substituted for Edwin Godholm. Longobarda's Davide Moscatelli was substituted for Frank Cherubini. In the 98th match minute, Pénzügyőr SE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viktor Szaniszló to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Pénzügyőr SE had won after a very even match.
