Edgar Costa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ciro Moscatelli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Ciro Moscatelli made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Virgílio Teves sent off a good shot on target. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Acilia Town made a substitution. Alvaro Recoba replaced Jorge Ramos. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Liang Cai stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Garanhão do SUL's zone, Liang Cai stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ignatius Casasola came out of the goal and Liang Cai tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Garanhão do SUL's Ignatius Casasola got control of the ball when Liang Cai tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Aloísio Garcez fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Garanhão do SUL's protests and gave Aloísio Garcez a yellow card for diving instead. In the 70th minute, Aloísio Garcez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Acilia Town made a substitution. Diego Garofalo replaced Franco Ucci. Ignatius Casasola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dieguinho Tande in the 81st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albano Leizarraga in the 82nd minute of play forced Acilia Town's goalkeeper Ciro Moscatelli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Ignatius Casasola, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Albano Leizarraga left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Garanhão do SUL fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. In the 92nd minute Fábio Lobato shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Moscatelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Garanhão do SUL were awarded a corner in the 93th minute after Acilia Town's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Salvador Lousada took the corner. In the 95th minute, Acilia Town's Dieguinho Tande dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
