Tomas Levander hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. Curcio Carballeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Yao Zhan Sang tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Grover in the 26th minute of play forced Club Getafe Deportivo's goalkeeper Jairo Castellano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Getafe Deportivo's goalkeeper Jairo Castellano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Borussia Dortmund's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Yakup Sargut in the 32nd minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Yao Zhan Sang prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Yao Zhan Sang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Curcio Carballeira in the 40th minute of play. In the 44th minute Curcio Carballeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yao Zhan Sang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Borussia Dortmund's Tomas Levander got a free kick in the 45th minute. Borussia Dortmund's Yao Zhan Sang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gau Bergada in the 46th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Curcio Carballeira put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Yao Zhan Sang.

The wind increased when Curcio Carballeira made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Curcio Carballeira got free with Yao Zhan Sang in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 54th minute Club Getafe Deportivo were awarded a corner. Orlo Sarrate went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Orlo Sarrate got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Yao Zhan Sang quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. A hard shot 57 in the game by Gau Bergada from a close distance when the talented Yao Zhan Sang managed to make a qualified save. Borussia Dortmund's players were relieved. In the 59th minute, Fernando Grover left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Borussia Dortmund fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Club Getafe Deportivo's Rafael Navarro was substituted for Gau Bergada. Club Getafe Deportivo's Jairo Castellano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fatih-Sultan Mehmet in the 76th minute of play. Borussia Dortmund made a substitution. Bertran Castillo replaced Emesto Llames. 85 minutes into the match, Curcio Carballeira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yao Zhan Sang. Borussia Dortmund's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Curcio Carballeira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-3. Borussia Dortmund's Fernandez Quintairos was substituted for Tomas Levander. Rafael Navarro came free with the goalkeeper in the 90th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Yao Zhan Sang could save by the left post. Despite being the better team, Club Getafe Deportivo failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
