Club Getafe Deportivo's supporters rose to their feet, but Curcio Carballeira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Yao Zhan Sang breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 12 minutes into the match, Club Getafe Deportivo's goal looked a bit too open when Fatih-Sultan Mehmet came free, but Jairo Castellano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Baltazar Clavijo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Club Getafe Deportivo's Jairo Castellano. Jairo Castellano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 23 minutes into the game, Yakup Sargut threw the ball into play from the sideline. Club Getafe Deportivo's Víctor Feal quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Curcio Carballeira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Yao Zhan Sang having to make a save. With a little luck, Borussia Dortmund's Yao Zhan Sang got control of the ball when Curcio Carballeira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jairo Castellano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Grover in the 29th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's Tomas Levander sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jairo Castellano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Club Getafe Deportivo's zone, Yakup Sargut stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jairo Castellano came out of the goal and Yakup Sargut tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fernando Grover in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jairo Castellano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Baltazar Clavijo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jairo Castellano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Levander in the 45th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fernando Grover made a kick off. The supporters of Borussia Dortmund booed when Club Getafe Deportivo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Handi Vidales didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baltazar Clavijo in the 51st minute of play forced Club Getafe Deportivo's goalkeeper Jairo Castellano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Borussia Dortmund's Omar Orlanda quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Kayra Sağlık, made in the 55th minute of the game. In the last second Jairo Castellano throw himself and got hold of the ball when Fernando Grover in the 56thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. After 69 minutes Club Getafe Deportivo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Yakup Sargut who took care of the corner kick. After 69 played minutes Borussia Dortmund got a freekick which was hit by Omar Orlanda. In the 69th minute, Borussia Dortmund's Omar Orlanda fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal. Jairo Castellano was prepared for the shot, but didn't have to make a play as the shot flew over the goal. After having played for 71 minutes, Curcio Carballeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Getafe Deportivo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Curcio Carballeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jairo Castellano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Levander in the 76th minute of the match. Yakup Sargut took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jairo Castellano. Club Getafe Deportivo's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jairo Castellano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fatih-Sultan Mehmet in the 79th minute. Jairo Castellano made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Astor Odol sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Astor Odol got free with Jairo Castellano in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jairo Castellano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Levander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 86 minutes into the match, Club Getafe Deportivo's goal looked a bit too open when Baltazar Clavijo came free, but Jairo Castellano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Curcio Carballeira came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Club Getafe Deportivo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Curcio Carballeira couldn't finish the play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
