The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elói Cosme in the 6th minute of play forced River LOA's goalkeeper Feliciano Duval to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Elói Cosme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Feliciano Duval made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dudu Palmeira in the 10th minute of play. Dudu Palmeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Feliciano Duval having to interfere. Amadeu Lamego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaume Aracena in the 21st minute of play. Beto Galvão kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the game, Luiz Fabiano de Medeiros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SAO JOANENSE FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave River LOA the free kick. 26 minutes into the game, one of SAO JOANENSE FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Feliciano Duval showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dudu Palmeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Murillo Catarinense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Feliciano Duval tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaume Aracena was the one to do the kick off. SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chan Abeijon in the 57th minute of play. Murillo Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Feliciano Duval having to interfere. Jarbas Guerra hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Murillo Catarinense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Feliciano Duval tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. River LOA's Feliciano Duval proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save River LOA from getting a goal against them. Murillo Catarinense kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute, Dudu Palmeira reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Feliciano Duval. The goal made the score 1-1. Amadeu Lamego came out of the goal in the 75th minute to try and stop a shot by River LOA's Chan Abeijon. But to his dismay, Chan Abeijon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. The audience was convinced that Jaume Aracena's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Amadeu Lamego was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Elias Veloso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Feliciano Duval having to make a save. Feliciano Duval made an important save on a dangerous shot by Elias Veloso in the 84th minute. A hard and well directed shot from Elias Veloso led 84 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. River LOA's Feliciano Duval became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 2-2. Jaume Aracena hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Murillo Catarinense's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Feliciano Duval read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Feliciano Duval made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murillo Catarinense in the 91st minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Chan Abeijon during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Chan Abeijon hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
