Gábor Joó sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valencia CF Mindszent's Rene Higuita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laerte Lucas in the 21st minute of play. After some careless play in the Montevideo defense, Gábor Joó kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ronaldo Medeiros. The Montevideo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ronaldo Medeiros should have stopped the shot. After having played for 29 minutes, Gábor Joó managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Valencia CF Mindszent's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gábor Joó was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rene Higuita showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernandão Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Gábor Joó could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Ronaldo Medeiros made a huge save. In the 34th minute, Octav Blănaru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ronaldo Medeiros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 83 played minutes Montevideo got a freekick which was hit by Bogdan Blănaru. After 87 played minutes Montevideo got a freekick which was hit by Laerte Lucas. Ronaldo Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Konstantin Fitos in the 89th minute of the match. After 93rd play minutes Konstantin Fitos shot 6-1, a short shot which went by Ronaldo Medeiros and just under the crossbar into goal.
