Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maxim Tsigalko in the 11th minute of play. Samurai were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Montevideo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Allan Bivall took the corner. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Olavo Matorin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the game, Maxim Tsigalko cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Ronaldo Medeiros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Hermengildo Huly had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Timmy Henriksson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vince Di Cola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laerte Lucas in the 66th minute of the match. Samurai's Wu Qi was substituted for Maxim Tsigalko. Esbjörn Hultstrand scored 0-4 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronaldo Medeiros, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Samurai's Wu Qi managed to work through Montevideo's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Wu Qi dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in.
