Iker Casillas came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis. But to his dismay, Elpidio Francis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 6th minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iker Casillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 7th minute of the match ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA got a corner. Villa Gordiani's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Esteban Iztal ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Villa Gordiani's goalkeeper Iker Casillas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Elpidio Francis scored 2-0 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iker Casillas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabrizio Canzano in the 15th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Elpidio Francis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Iker Casillas was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. With a little luck, Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas got control of the ball when Elpidio Francis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Elpidio Francis might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iker Casillas. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elpidio Francis ran back to his position shaking his head. Iker Casillas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elpidio Francis in the 20th minute of the match. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Otang Irawan in the 23rd minute of play. Branislav Velchevski didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Otang Irawan went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. 27 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Elpidio Francis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iker Casillas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Fabrizio Canzano made a precise shot to the right of Branislav Velchevski. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. In the 33rd minute, Elpidio Francis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Iker Casillas was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Iker Casillas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Elpidio Francis went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. Iker Casillas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elpidio Francis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Iker Casillas was out of position in the 42 minute of play, and Elpidio Francis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Elpidio Francis really showed his touch with that goal: 5-2. Everardo Cordarell hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elpidio Francis made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iker Casillas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's André Monclús was substituted for Elpidio Francis. 63 minutes in the game Linus Blomqvist did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Fabrizio Canzano. After 66 played minutes ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA got a freekick which was hit by Olle Snell. If André Monclús had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Iker Casillas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Monclús, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. André Monclús's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iker Casillas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. After taking down the ball on ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's corner Esteban Iztal fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Iker Casillas quite easily take care of the ball. Villa Gordiani's Iker Casillas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petrică Măcriș in the 75th minute of play. Branislav Velchevski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabrizio Canzano, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Iker Casillas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 88th minute, André Monclús left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 9-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling André Monclús in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iker Casillas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 94 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Fabrizio Canzano came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Villa Gordiani players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA.
