Isaltino Paes got a throw-in 17 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Francesco Totti. Teofilo Garrote fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Holger Vester having to interfere. With his leg Holger Vester managed to avoid a goal in the 24thth minute, when El Gallo de Moron's Luisinho Laguna fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Nacho Gonzalez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francesco Totti, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. El Gallo de Moron's Vasile Neicu got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Leigh Trusswell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leigh Trusswell hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luisinho Laguna to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Hammarby IF's Frans Mossberg got a free kick in the 54th minute. Holger Vester showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luisinho Laguna in the 59th minute of the match. Gilberto Ihazintu hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Hammarby IF's Holger Vester played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisinho Laguna in the 63rd minute of play. In the 66th minute Luisinho Laguna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Holger Vester saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hammarby IF made a substitution. Jonas Hök replaced Francesco Totti. 80 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Teofilo Garrote came free, but Holger Vester reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Holger Vester showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Cubillos, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Gilberto Ihazintu hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. In the 94th minute, Martin Cubillos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Holger Vester was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. El Gallo de Moron had played much better football throughout.
