Kerry Sellers could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Naldo Proença made a huge save. Fausto Mendonça's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Farid Mondragón read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Scarlet Speedster's Fausto Mendonça sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Farid Mondragón narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fausto Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Farid Mondragón having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fausto Mendonça in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Farid Mondragón saved C. A. Independiente from getting behind. Naldo Proença showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidney Forbes, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fausto Mendonça to make the kick off. Fausto Mendonça's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Farid Mondragón read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. C. A. Independiente's Farid Mondragón proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save C. A. Independiente from getting a goal against them. Farid Mondragón made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Fausto Mendonça sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sidney Forbes in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Naldo Proença prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Scarlet Speedster were awarded a corner in the 69th minute after C. A. Independiente's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Edward Krzynowek took the corner. Váldson Bittencourt was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. 78 minutes into the match, C. A. Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Fausto Mendonça came free, but Farid Mondragón reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Scarlet Speedster's Edward Krzynowek managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Qiu Fan Ran in the 79 minute of the game. Fausto Mendonça in the 80thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Farid Mondragón, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Fausto Mendonça could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Farid Mondragón made a huge save. In the 88th minute Sidney Forbes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naldo Proença saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90th minute, Samuel Quirino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 91st minute of the match Kerry Sellers shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Naldo Proença showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Despite being the better team, Scarlet Speedster failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
