Cirilo Virila kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. 9 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goalkeeper Matías Pitta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benito Tabby. Matías Pitta was a little too slow when Gustavo Raymond got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 14th minute. The score was now 2-0. Grêmio FBPA's Matías Pitta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonas Tavio in the 17th minute of play. Bruno Cesario took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrique Pires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bruno Cesario showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrique Pires in the 18th minute of the match. In the 21st minute Gustavo Raymond shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matías Pitta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cirilo Virila's late challenge caught a Grêmio FBPA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cirilo Virila helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when C.A. Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gustavo Raymond made a kick off. Waldemar Amaral hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match.
