In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind GUSESI's goalkeeper Santos Kiliz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 81st minute Enrique Pires shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santos Kiliz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 87 minutes into the match, Grêmio FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Florentino Paul came free, but Rui Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Florentino Paul came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the GUSESI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florentino Paul couldn't finish the play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. GUSESI had played much better football throughout.
