An unexpectedly hard shot by Blas-Armando Giunta in the 15th minute of play forced Flamengo FSCMZ's goalkeeper Luís Fábio Silveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee ignored Sporting de Gijón's protests and gave Blas-Armando Giunta a yellow card for diving instead. Blas-Armando Giunta kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eusébio Andrade in the 30th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Desiderio Frederik to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Flamengo FSCMZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eusébio Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Flamengo FSCMZ's goalkeeper Luís Fábio Silveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Celedonio Kinsen. With his leg Luís Fábio Silveira managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Sporting de Gijón's Celedonio Kinsen fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Luís Fábio Silveira made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Ezequiel Fernández sent off a good shot on target. 43 minutes had been played when some careless play by Flamengo FSCMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Blas-Armando Giunta was slow to take the kick. During this time Sporting de Gijón's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Sporting de Gijón's Eulalio Soter getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Luís Fábio Silveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amadeo Panpili, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Sporting de Gijón's Desiderio Frederik played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pedro Luiz Teles in the 47th minute of play.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Blas-Armando Giunta was the one to do the kick off. Sporting de Gijón's Desiderio Frederik proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Sporting de Gijón from getting a goal against them. After 55th play minutes Amadeo Panpili shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Luís Fábio Silveira and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 58th minute, Blas-Armando Giunta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 60th minute Blas-Armando Giunta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Fábio Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís Fábio Silveira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 82 minutes into the game, Danilo Tande was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Flamengo FSCMZ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting de Gijón the free kick. 83 minutes into the match, Celedonio Kinsen notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Flamengo FSCMZ's Luís Fábio Silveira. Luís Fábio Silveira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Desiderio Frederik took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luiz Teles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Aquiles Leonidas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Flamengo FSCMZ booed when Sporting de Gijón was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damián Šilha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pedro Luiz Teles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Desiderio Frederik having to interfere. Aquiles Leonidas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Desiderio Frederik having to make a save. When the referee ended the match the Sporting de Gijón players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
