The audience thought a goal was coming when Augustin Nechifor got free with Damián Martínez in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Damián Martínez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nichifor Vergulescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. FC Steaua Pildesti's Costin Iorgu came free and shot a quick shot against goal 36 minutes in the game, fortunately Damián Martínez had problems saving as it came toward the left post. After 40 played minutes FC Steaua Pildesti got a freekick which was hit by Virgil Dragalina. Damián Martínez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Costin Iorgu, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. 45 minutes into the game, Costin Iorgu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Damián Martínez. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
