After 36 played minutes Magallanes got a freekick which was hit by Herminio Quintero. Gazi Açıkgün took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerónimo Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Magallanes's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Vladimiro Leroy in the 40th minute. The corner led Magallanes's Vladimiro Leroy to fire away a dangerous shot which Gazi Açıkgün despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Gazi Açıkgün came out of the goal and Gerónimo Brito tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Magallanes were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Çetin Ceviz was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th match minute, Magallanes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leopoldo Jacinto Herboso to maneuver through the defense. The referee ignored Magallanes's protests and gave Ariel Almeyda a yellow card for diving instead. When Hamdi Sökmensu was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 83 minutes had been played. In the 97th minute, Ariel Almeyda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Magallanes players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
