When Venancio Abalos fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored HIT Gorica's protests and gave Venancio Abalos a yellow card for diving instead. Venancio Abalos kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. In the last second Robin Bäckström throw himself and got hold of the ball when Duško Turnšek in the 4thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. The supporters of The Northmen Army booed when HIT Gorica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. CJ Desailly didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Northmen Army's Hjalmar Håkansson got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

HIT Gorica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. The referee felt a red card was in order, 54 minutes into the game, when Rastislav Tomič put in a rough tackle. The Northmen Army made a substitution. Kevin Näfver replaced Hao Yuan Guang. HIT Gorica's Istok Šabotić was substituted for Duško Turnšek. Teobald Polakowski who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 90thth minute tested the skills of Konstantin Pančur when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a rather tough play, The Northmen Army's Kevin Näfver got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 92nd match minute, The Northmen Army was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fortunato Stefano to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched The Northmen Army eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
