Thommy Pelgrims started the match with the kick off. Pompiliu Balaban's late challenge caught a Brugge United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pompiliu Balaban helped the player get up and apologised. Albert Avacariței sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Aldo Candal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mihail Gherdan in the 8th minute of play. Frank Terwenhout could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Ciprian Ghioane made a huge save. Steff Caers could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Ciprian Ghioane made a huge save. 12 minutes into the match, FC Buzău's goalkeeper Ciprian Ghioane had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Steff Caers. 13 minutes into the match, Brugge United's goal looked a bit too open when Albert Avacariței came free, but Aldo Candal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute Pompiliu Balaban shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aldo Candal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albert Avacariței sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aldo Candal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albert Avacariței in the 37th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Brugge United's zone, Mădălin Pascariu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aldo Candal came out of the goal and Mădălin Pascariu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 45 minutes into the game, Mihail Gherdan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Aldo Candal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

Brugge United's Tjorven Jaddon was substituted for Camiel Hennes. After 58 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Brugge United! Brugge United:s Aldo Candal showed great skill when he stopped Mihail Gherdan:s penalty. 65 minutes into the match, Brugge United's goalkeeper Aldo Candal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mădălin Pascariu. Ciprian Ghioane showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ryan Lanphant, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Albert Avacariței could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Aldo Candal made a huge save. After 75 minutes Brugge United's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Mihail Gherdan who took care of the corner kick. Mihail Gherdan in the 80thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Aldo Candal, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 84 minutes into the match, FC Buzău's goal looked a bit too open when Diederiek Daems came free, but Ciprian Ghioane reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Albert Avacariței fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aldo Candal having to interfere. The FC Buzău supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing FC Buzău would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
