In the 5th minute, Celedonio Cordareo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cássio de Senna was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Cássio de Senna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flavio Lucila in the 11th minute of play. Diego Balendin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 16th minute Flavio Lucila shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cássio de Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by Poetass FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Diego Balendin was slow to take the kick. During this time San Lorenzo's players had a chance to rest. Cássio de Senna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celedonio Cordareo in the 19th minute of play. Benjamim Guedes hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. When Claudinho Saldanha came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Poetass FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudinho Saldanha couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Diego Balendin in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cássio de Senna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cássio de Senna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flavio Lucila, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Poetass FC's Benjamim Guedes got a free kick in the 29th minute. Arnaldo Bide took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cássio de Senna. Cássio de Senna dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After some careless play in the Poetass FC defense, Celedonio Cordareo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cássio de Senna. The Poetass FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cássio de Senna should have stopped the shot. Gervasio Tartalo charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gervasio Tartalo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Poetass FC booed when San Lorenzo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gervasio Tartalo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half San Lorenzo were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Diego Balendin made a kick off. With a little luck, Poetass FC's Cássio de Senna got control of the ball when Celedonio Cordareo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Flavio Lucila took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cássio de Senna. Cássio de Senna dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. Cássio de Senna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Flavio Lucila, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Cássio de Senna was out of position in the 63 minute of play, and Flavio Lucila capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Flavio Lucila really showed his touch with that goal: 0-6. Diego Balendin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cássio de Senna having to interfere. After a rather tough play, San Lorenzo's Flavio Lucila got a free kick in the 74th minute. In the 76th minute, San Lorenzo's Flavio Lucila dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-7. The crowd rose to their feet as San Lorenzo's Flavio Lucila slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cássio de Senna. That made the score 0-8 after 80 minutes of play. 83 minutes into the match, Flavio Lucila notched a goal, 0-9, to the right of Poetass FC's Cássio de Senna. Cássio de Senna was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. San Lorenzo's Celedonio Cordareo pulled a muscle in his back after 88 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 93 played minutes Poetass FC got a freekick which was hit by Olavo Carioca. San Lorenzo played a much better game than Poetass FC and deserved their victory. The Poetass FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
