The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Club Dep. Union Madereros's attentive Filomeno Salamon managed to snatch the ball when Armandinho Nascimento made a throw-in in the 3rd minute of the game. Club Dep. Union Madereros were awarded a corner in the 6th minute after Breguete FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Geordi Berthelette took the corner. The corner led Club Dep. Union Madereros's Geordi Berthelette to fire away a dangerous shot which Júlio Soares despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Juan Silveira's late challenge caught a Club Dep. Union Madereros's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Silveira helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Breguete FC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Juan Silveira hit a great ball. After 9 played minutes, Club Dep. Union Madereros's Geordi Berthelette shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Júlio Soares came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Club Dep. Union Madereros reached it. After a rather tough play, Breguete FC's Erivaldo Rezende got a free kick in the 10th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ismael Ourente in the 11th minute of play forced Breguete FC's goalkeeper Júlio Soares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Club Dep. Union Madereros's Ismael Ourente in the 13th minute got a chance for a shot 13th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Breguete FC's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ismael Ourente in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Júlio Soares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermengildo Jakue, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute of the match Club Dep. Union Madereros got a corner. Breguete FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Geordi Berthelette ran over to the corner to take the kick. A collision led to Club Dep. Union Madereros getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Ismael Ourente hit a great ball. With a little luck, Club Dep. Union Madereros's Róbert Szepesvári got control of the ball when Adriano Leite tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Breguete FC defense, Ismael Ourente kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Júlio Soares. The Breguete FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Júlio Soares should have stopped the shot. In the 40th match minute, Breguete FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erivaldo Rezende to maneuver through the defense. Júlio Soares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ismael Ourente, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Adriano Leite might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Róbert Szepesvári. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adriano Leite ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 47thth minute of the game Ismael Ourente who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Breguete FC's Júlio Soares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Armandinho Nascimento got a throw-in 57 minutes in the game and the ball was received by José Augusto Santos. Ismael Ourente struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Júlio Soares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Dep. Union Madereros. After 71 played minutes Breguete FC got a freekick which was hit by Erivaldo Rezende. 73 minutes into the game, Ismael Ourente lined in a short shot 1-2 behind a frustrated Júlio Soares. Róbert Szepesvári made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Augusto Santos in the 77th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Breguete FC's zone, Daniel Laurendi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júlio Soares came out of the goal and Daniel Laurendi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Júlio Soares made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Placido Domingues sent off a good shot on target. In the 84th minute Adriano Leite shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Róbert Szepesvári saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Club Dep. Union Madereros's Daniel Laurendi got a free kick in the 84th minute. Júlio Soares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Placido Domingues in the 87th minute. With 89 minutes on the clock, Cornelio Hotz commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 88th minute, one of Club Dep. Union Madereros:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Club Dep. Union Madereros. Róbert Szepesvári had in the 90thth minute some difficulties stopping Luiz Gustavo Sanches's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 94th minute, Breguete FC's Norberto Massa seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Norberto Massa the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Breguete FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Norberto Massa had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 93 minutes into the game, one of Breguete FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Júlio Soares had in the 96thth minute some difficulties stopping Geordi Berthelette's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Placido Domingues blasted a shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Júlio Soares having to make a save. After 99th play minutes Ismael Ourente shot 1-3, a short shot which went by Júlio Soares and just under the crossbar into goal. Club Dep. Union Madereros's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
