A collision led to FÊNIX F.C. getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Rômulo Sampaio hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Witold Pryla in the 9th minute of play forced FÊNIX F.C.'s goalkeeper Otávio da Mata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Nightmare's zone, Waldir Brito stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmund Lenertej came out of the goal and Waldir Brito tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 28th minute Nightmare were awarded a corner. Tang Han went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Marco Benitez heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The supporters of FÊNIX F.C. booed when Nightmare was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco Benitez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 37th minute, Régis Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Witold Pryla in the 39th minute of play forced FÊNIX F.C.'s goalkeeper Otávio da Mata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the FÊNIX F.C. defense, Marco Benitez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Otávio da Mata. The FÊNIX F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Otávio da Mata should have stopped the shot. After 46 played minutes Nightmare got a freekick which was hit by Guy Grimault. After the first half Nightmare were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Armando Saldanha was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st match minute, FÊNIX F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Antunes to maneuver through the defense. Tang Han could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Otávio da Mata made a huge save. In the 54th minute Witold Pryla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Otávio da Mata saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nightmare's Witold Pryla managed to work through FÊNIX F.C.'s defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Witold Pryla dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 56 minutes into the match, FÊNIX F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Marco Benitez came free, but Otávio da Mata reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind FÊNIX F.C.'s goalkeeper Otávio da Mata, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 92 minutes into the game, Ademir de Sena recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Otávio da Mata. Ademir de Sena showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. When the final whistle sounded Nightmare left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than FÊNIX F.C..
