Artur Sterckmans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After taking down the ball on ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's corner Fabrício Mesquita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Artur Sterckmans quite easily take care of the ball. Tautvydas Mickevičius didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mattias Vanden Driessche went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Davi Coutinho got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 32nd minute Fabrício Mesquita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Artur Sterckmans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st match minute, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Omar Erez to maneuver through the defense. Omar Erez kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

Artur Sterckmans made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Gabriel Turi sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of KV Schoonwater booed when ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Omar Erez didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 55thth minute of the game Gillis Lembrechts who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Tautvydas Mickevičius was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 59th minute, KV Schoonwater's Carl Van Cleijnenbruegel seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Carl Van Cleijnenbruegel the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of KV Schoonwater protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Carl Van Cleijnenbruegel had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Carl Van Cleijnenbruegel hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Omar Erez managed to get in a good position for a shot. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's supporters rose to their feet, but Omar Erez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Artur Sterckmans breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fabrício Mesquita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Artur Sterckmans read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play.
