Vico Sticher made in the 4th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Gregor Wirth. With a little luck, FC Lugano's Godo Gøl got control of the ball when Ramon Totti tried to sneak it across the goal line. Woopbongo's Villiam Askelöf played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Qiao Jian in the 19th minute of play. Gregor Wirth recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 22 minutes into the game, FC Lugano's Qiao Jian nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Villiam Askelöf made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 26th minute, Gabin Lièvin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul in the 28th minute of play forced Woopbongo's goalkeeper Villiam Askelöf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Qiao Jian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Villiam Askelöf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 31 minutes FC Lugano's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Krzysztof Liberko who took care of the corner kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul in the 35th minute of play forced Woopbongo's goalkeeper Villiam Askelöf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Robert Onofrei had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half FC Lugano were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Qiao Jian got free with Villiam Askelöf in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 53 minutes of play, FC Lugano's Qiao Jian made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Villiam Askelöf was left in no man's land by his defense there! Qiao Jian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramon Totti in the 58th minute of play forced FC Lugano's goalkeeper Godo Gøl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Godo Gøl showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Vik, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Pattharawut Sirikeartkumjorn kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lars Vik in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Godo Gøl saved FC Lugano from getting behind. In the 68th minute, FC Lugano's Jerome Achen seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jerome Achen the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of FC Lugano protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jerome Achen had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. FC Lugano made a substitution. Teddy Racine replaced Garnier Nüesch. In the 67th minute, one of FC Lugano:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC Lugano. FC Lugano's Godo Gøl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramon Totti in the 75th minute of play. Godo Gøl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramon Totti in the 78th minute of play. Favian Muff received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Villiam Askelöf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 84th minute Krzysztof Liberko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godo Gøl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Villiam Askelöf showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Peder Sundberg hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. 95 minutes into the match, FC Lugano's goal looked a bit too open when Lars Vik came free, but Godo Gøl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
