In the 14th match minute, Newcastle United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benedykt Zerde to maneuver through the defense. Kryspin Wyrostek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Sorin in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th minute S.E.R. Caxias do Sul were awarded a corner. In the 47th minute, Giovanni Soeiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Juan Sorin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 52 minutes, Juan Sorin made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Kryspin Wyrostek was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Juan Sorin showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 80 minute of play. The supporters of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul booed when Newcastle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benedykt Zerde didn't get a good kick on the ball.
