Oleg Timofeev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacinto Fantini in the 6th minute of the match. In the 13th minute Elivélton Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oleg Timofeev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Agostinho Salgado kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jacinto Fantini got free with Oleg Timofeev in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Classe A Futebol Clube's Jacinto Fantini came free and shot a quick shot against goal 18 minutes in the game, fortunately Oleg Timofeev had problems saving as it came toward the left post. With a little luck, Montevideo's Oleg Timofeev got control of the ball when Jacinto Fantini tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Classe A Futebol Clube booed when Montevideo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jano Cavalcante didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tony Favoretto in the 26th minute of play forced Montevideo's goalkeeper Oleg Timofeev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lauro Corrêa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Brito, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oleg Timofeev made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Elivélton Seco sent off a good shot on target. Oleg Timofeev showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinho Sena in the 30th minute of the match. Oleg Timofeev came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Classe A Futebol Clube's Jacinto Fantini. But to his dismay, Jacinto Fantini quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jacinto Fantini got free with Oleg Timofeev in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Montevideo's zone, Jacinto Fantini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Oleg Timofeev came out of the goal and Jacinto Fantini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 39 minutes, Claudinho Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Classe A Futebol Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Claudinho Sena was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 41st minute Tony Favoretto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oleg Timofeev saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oleg Timofeev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hudson Hoffmann in the 42nd minute of play. Montevideo's Oleg Timofeev proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Montevideo from getting a goal against them. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The Classe A Futebol Clube fans cheered their team off the field, for while Montevideo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
