After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Gabi Batistuta managed to get in a good position for a shot. La Candela FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gabi Batistuta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gert-Jan Van de Velde breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Teodosio Frans who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 8thth minute tested the skills of Gert-Jan Van de Velde when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 11 minutes into the match, De Keikoppers's goal looked a bit too open when Teodosio Frans came free, but Gert-Jan Van de Velde reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, De Keikoppers's Kobe Vanneste sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Emanuel Laurin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 17th minute, Armand Zimmer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The De Keikoppers fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Gabi Batistuta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gert-Jan Van de Velde read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Gabi Batistuta notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of De Keikoppers's Gert-Jan Van de Velde. Gert-Jan Van de Velde was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. De Keikoppers's defense didn't have a chance, in the 28th minute, when Gabi Batistuta scored to the left of an out of position Gert-Jan Van de Velde, making the score, 4-1. Gert-Jan Van de Velde stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gabi Batistuta's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. After a rather tough play, La Candela FC's Rodolfo Arruabarrena got a free kick in the 37th minute. After a rather tough play, La Candela FC's Cai Bing Cheng got a free kick in the 40th minute. Orlando Medina did an outstanding performance 42 minutes into the match, when he by himself got past the opposing team's defense and with a quick scored 5-1 to the right of an irritated Gert-Jan Van de Velde in the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-1 at half-time.

La Candela FC made a substitution. Ademar Castro replaced Teodosio Frans. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ademar Castro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gert-Jan Van de Velde didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gabi Batistuta went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-1 was the resulting score. After 57 played minutes De Keikoppers got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel Gillekens. 58 minutes into the game, La Candela FC's Cai Bing Cheng nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gert-Jan Van de Velde made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-1. Gabi Batistuta scored 8-1 in the 65th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gert-Jan Van de Velde, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Ademar Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gert-Jan Van de Velde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ademar Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. La Candela FC made a substitution. Jeremias Bide replaced Alcides Silveira. Gert-Jan Van de Velde didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gabi Batistuta went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 9-1 was the resulting score. Gabi Batistuta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Frans Gijselinghs charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Frans Gijselinghs the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 84th minute, Frans Gijselinghs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. De Keikoppers's Gert-Jan Van de Velde played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ademar Castro in the 85th minute of play. If Gabi Batistuta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gabi Batistuta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
