A collision led to Flames FC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Cyril Cantrell hit a great ball. After 15 played minutes, Catugi FC's Tiaguinho Fernandez shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Margarito Santana came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Catugi FC reached it. Folke Österlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norbert Garland, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Nando de Alcântara took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Margarito Santana. Margarito Santana dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dudu Borges in the 29th minute of play forced Flames FC's goalkeeper Margarito Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Catugi FC's goalkeeper Folke Österlund had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Norbert Garland. Folke Österlund was out of position in the 42 minute of play, and Norbert Garland capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Norbert Garland really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. 45 minutes into the match, Flames FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nando de Alcântara came free, but Margarito Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Norbert Garland made a kick off. Nando de Alcântara's late challenge caught a Flames FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nando de Alcântara helped the player get up and apologised. In the 58th match minute, Catugi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nando de Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. Folke Österlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ambrose Keen, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Flames FC's zone, Hernani Travassos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Margarito Santana came out of the goal and Hernani Travassos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Flames FC's Hal Chatman was substituted for Hans Lavallée. But to his dismay, Ambrose Keen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-3. Folke Österlund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Horace Vaughn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Flames FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Catugi FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
