In the 17th match minute, FC Johannesburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stanton Klaasens to maneuver through the defense. Jaroslaw Rojewski made in the 21st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by FC Johannesburg's Henk-Jan Fortuin. FC Johannesburg's Dalton Kinnaird got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. FC Johannesburg's Neville Smythe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomasz Falkowski in the 25th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Michal Malewicki left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pretoria Gostyń fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After 39 played minutes FC Johannesburg got a freekick which was hit by Aubrey Serage. The supporters of Pretoria Gostyń booed when FC Johannesburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brandon Liau didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute Tomasz Falkowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Neville Smythe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomasz Dziedelonis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dalton Kinnaird, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Pretoria Gostyń were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Neville Smythe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomasz Falkowski in the 64th minute. In the 65th minute, Brandon Liau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Przemyslaw Piszczor managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pretoria Gostyń's supporters rose to their feet, but Przemyslaw Piszczor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Neville Smythe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 72 played minutes FC Johannesburg got a freekick which was hit by Lebang Sibeko. FC Johannesburg's Neville Smythe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michal Malewicki in the 74th minute of play. Stanton Klaasens got his second yellow card in the match during the 80th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 80th minute, Stanton Klaasens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in FC Johannesburg's zone, Tomasz Falkowski stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Neville Smythe came out of the goal and Tomasz Falkowski tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, FC Johannesburg's Henk-Jan Fortuin got a free kick in the 83rd minute. In the 89th minute Michal Malewicki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Neville Smythe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dalton Kinnaird sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Neville Smythe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomasz Falkowski in the 92nd minute. When the final whistle sounded Pretoria Gostyń left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than FC Johannesburg.
