In the 5th minute, Brandon Liau reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Krzysztof Domamir. The goal made the score 1-0. Neville Smythe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Klement Plachetka, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner led Pogoń Szczecin's Andrzej Bentkowski to fire away a dangerous shot which Neville Smythe despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Klement Plachetka came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Pogoń Szczecin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Klement Plachetka couldn't finish the play. Neville Smythe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Klement Plachetka in the 21st minute of the match. Neville Smythe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Klement Plachetka went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Neville Smythe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Klement Plachetka, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Klement Plachetka put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Neville Smythe. In the 34th minute Klement Plachetka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Neville Smythe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 35 minutes of play, Pogoń Szczecin's Zygmunt Brytan made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Neville Smythe was left in no man's land by his defense there! FC Johannesburg's Stanton Klaasens got his second yellow card of the match in the 38th minute. The referee ordered Stanton Klaasens off the ground. A collision led to FC Johannesburg getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Stanton Klaasens hit a great ball. Andrzej Bentkowski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Olgierd Sakowicz made in the 43rd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Juliusz Bienienda. Neville Smythe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zygmunt Brytan, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. In the 45th match minute, FC Johannesburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brandon Liau to maneuver through the defense. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Reinhardt Steyn to strike the kick off in the second half. Neville Smythe was out of position in the 60 minute of play, and Klement Plachetka capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Klement Plachetka really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. After 63 played minutes Pogoń Szczecin got a freekick which was hit by Antoni Skaradoski. Klement Plachetka sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Neville Smythe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Klement Plachetka in the 66th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute, Reinhardt Steyn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 73 minutes into the match, FC Johannesburg's goal looked a bit too open when Zygmunt Brytan came free, but Neville Smythe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 76 played minutes Pogoń Szczecin got a freekick which was hit by Olgierd Sakowicz. If Karol Burdzel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henk-Jan Fortuin kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Klement Plachetka struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Neville Smythe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pogoń Szczecin. The supporters of Pogoń Szczecin booed when FC Johannesburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aubrey Serage didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pogoń Szczecin's Klement Plachetka got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, FC Johannesburg's Kaidan Vangelfeldt got a free kick in the 89th minute. In the 92ndth minute of the game Klement Plachetka who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Johannesburg's Neville Smythe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pogoń Szczecin's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
