Sport Lisboa e Benfica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antoine Norton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 4 minutes into the game, Antoine Norton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Borys Witek was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 12th minute, Antoine Norton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 13th match minute, Brufoss IL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emmanuel Schol to maneuver through the defense. Emanuel Bazinet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kent Remme, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Emanuel Bazinet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kent Remme, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. 18 minutes into the match, Antoine Norton notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Brufoss IL's Borys Witek. Borys Witek was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Antoine Norton in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Borys Witek prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Marquis Hopper in the 27th minute. Emanuel Bazinet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Markham in the 28th minute of the match. The supporters of Brufoss IL booed when Sport Lisboa e Benfica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lewis Horn didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emanuel Bazinet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kent Remme, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The corner led Brufoss IL's Christer Ribe to fire away a dangerous shot which Emanuel Bazinet despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. A collision led to Sport Lisboa e Benfica getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Art Solomon hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Brufoss IL defense, Antoine Norton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Borys Witek. The Brufoss IL fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Borys Witek should have stopped the shot. After the first half Sport Lisboa e Benfica were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Emanuel Markham stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lewis Horn hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. 57 minutes into the match, Brufoss IL's goalkeeper Borys Witek had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antoine Norton. 62 minutes into the match, Emanuel Markham had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Emanuel Bazinet. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emanuel Markham was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. After 64 minutes, Jan-Kenneth Heistad mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Brufoss IL and the Sport Lisboa e Benfica players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Brufoss IL's Jan-Kenneth Heistad got a free kick in the 64th minute. 65 minutes into the match, Brufoss IL's goalkeeper Borys Witek had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antoine Norton. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Antoine Norton in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Borys Witek saved Brufoss IL from getting behind. 77 minutes into the match, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Antoine Norton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Borys Witek narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Jan-Kenneth Heistad's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Emanuel Bazinet was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jan-Kenneth Heistad in the 83rd minute of play forced Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goalkeeper Emanuel Bazinet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kent Remme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Emanuel Bazinet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Jared Temple was substituted for Lewis Horn. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Antoine Norton got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Emanuel Bazinet played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frode Tobiassen in the 92nd minute of play. In the 93rd minute Brufoss IL were awarded a corner. Frode Tobiassen went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Brufoss IL's Frode Tobiassen to fire away a dangerous shot which Emanuel Bazinet despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Emmanuel Schol hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Marquis Hopper recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frode Tobiassen in the 98th minute of play forced Sport Lisboa e Benfica's goalkeeper Emanuel Bazinet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Sport Lisboa e Benfica supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sport Lisboa e Benfica would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
