An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilfredo Figueroa in the 8th minute of play forced Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper Walter Huarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Walter Huarte showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilfredo Figueroa, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Walter Huarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Braulio Berbiz in the 12th minute of play. Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carolo Presebal in the 13th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Wilfredo Figueroa came free, but Walter Huarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alejandro Emesto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dani Galiana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zarando Eguizabal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Alejandro Emesto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th match minute, Astillero del Guayas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dani Galiana to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wilfredo Figueroa in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Walter Huarte saved Astillero del Guayas from getting behind. The C.A. Calamuchita fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when C.A. Calamuchita's Wilfredo Figueroa looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. C.A. Calamuchita's Carolo Presebal got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dani Galiana blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alejandro Emesto having to make a save. 39 minutes into the game, Wilfredo Figueroa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Walter Huarte was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 45thth minute of the game Wilfredo Figueroa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Braulio Berbiz notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte. Walter Huarte was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.

With a little luck, Astillero del Guayas's Walter Huarte got control of the ball when Carolo Presebal tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Astillero del Guayas getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Javier Landeras hit a great ball. Braulio Berbiz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Walter Huarte made a huge save. Walter Huarte made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Carolo Presebal sent off a good shot on target. Carolo Presebal made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 66thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Walter Huarte would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. In the 68th minute, Braulio Berbiz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eliseo Iaki kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wilfredo Figueroa got free with Walter Huarte in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilfredo Figueroa in the 83rd minute of play forced Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper Walter Huarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 86 minutes into the game, Astillero del Guayas's Zarando Eguizabal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Alejandro Emesto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. Wilfredo Figueroa's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 89thth minute, Walter Huarte skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Javier Landeras charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Javier Landeras the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 90 played minutes Astillero del Guayas got a freekick which was hit by Javier Landeras. After 91 played minutes C.A. Calamuchita got a freekick which was hit by Braulio Berbiz. When Wilfredo Figueroa came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the C.A. Calamuchita fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wilfredo Figueroa couldn't finish the play. 97 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper Walter Huarte had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wilfredo Figueroa. The C.A. Calamuchita players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
