In the 5th minute, INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Fred Valencia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind La Cimas. La Cimas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. When Ciriaco Aimar fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Zurdo FC's protests and gave Ciriaco Aimar a yellow card for diving instead. Ciriaco Aimar kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. La Cimas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilmar de Souza in the 10th minute of the match. In the 13th minute INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA were awarded a corner. Nilmar de Souza went to the cornerflag to take it. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Nilmar de Souza was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but La Cimas in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fred Valencia in the 16th minute of play forced Zurdo FC's goalkeeper La Cimas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fred Valencia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but La Cimas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilmar de Souza in the 18th minute of play forced Zurdo FC's goalkeeper La Cimas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA were awarded a corner in the 19th minute after Zurdo FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nilmar de Souza took the corner. A very nice done corner allowed Gerson Rezende to score against La Cimas in Zurdo FC's goal. 2-0 after 19 minutes. Nilmar de Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without La Cimas having to interfere. With his leg La Cimas managed to avoid a goal in the 28thth minute, when INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Fred Valencia fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 29 minutes into the match, Zurdo FC's goalkeeper La Cimas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fred Valencia. INTERNACIONAL DA BAHIA's Fred Valencia managed to work through Zurdo FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Fred Valencia dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. With 42 minutes on the clock, Ciriaco Aimar commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. La Cimas went to the wrong direction when Nilmar de Souza was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fred Valencia to make the kick off. La Cimas didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fred Valencia went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. 64 minutes into the match, Zurdo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fred Valencia came free, but La Cimas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. La Cimas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
