The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Luiz Paulo Albuquerque to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Nazım Taci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gonçalo de Amorim was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. New York Red Bulls's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
