Victor Piţurcă sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gonçalo de Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victor Piţurcă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The throw-in from Agostinho Rossi in the 4th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Emerald's Ioan Logofătu. The crowd rose to their feet as Emerald's Victor Piţurcă slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gonçalo de Amorim. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. In the 11th minute of the match, Victor Piţurcă tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gonçalo de Amorim saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The supporters of Emerald booed when America Futebol Clube SP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guto Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gonçalo de Amorim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Victor Piţurcă in the 14th minute. 16 minutes into the match, America Futebol Clube SP's goalkeeper Gonçalo de Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Victor Piţurcă. Emerald's Bogdan Lobonț played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edson Mendonça in the 20th minute of play. Bogdan Lobonț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edson Mendonça in the 28th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edson Mendonça in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bogdan Lobonț prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 30 minutes into the match, America Futebol Clube SP's goalkeeper Gonçalo de Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Victor Piţurcă. The audience thought a goal was coming when Victor Piţurcă got free with Gonçalo de Amorim in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 32nd minute, Victor Piţurcă got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gonçalo de Amorim was a little too slow when Victor Piţurcă got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 34th minute. The score was now 2-0. When Emerald's Victor Piţurcă in the 40th minute got a chance for a shot 40th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye America Futebol Clube SP's goalie prevented a goal. 41 minutes into the match, Emerald's Victor Piţurcă sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gonçalo de Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 43 minutes America Futebol Clube SP's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jaime Carioca who took care of the corner kick. Gonçalo de Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Piţurcă in the 44th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Victor Piţurcă managed to get in a good position for a shot. Emerald's supporters rose to their feet, but Victor Piţurcă was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gonçalo de Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabriel Vermeşan in the 48th minute of play forced America Futebol Clube SP's goalkeeper Gonçalo de Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Bogdan Lobonț was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Agostinho Rossi made in the 74th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Emerald's Ioan Logofătu. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gonçalo de Amorim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 78 minutes into the match, Victor Piţurcă had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gonçalo de Amorim. America Futebol Clube SP's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Victor Piţurcă was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. If Victor Piţurcă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Victor Piţurcă in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gonçalo de Amorim saved America Futebol Clube SP from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Victor Piţurcă put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Gonçalo de Amorim. In the 90th minute, one of America Futebol Clube SP:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for America Futebol Clube SP. Gonçalo de Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gabriel Vermeşan, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Emerald's Ioan Logofătu quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Agostinho Rossi, made in the 96th minute of the game. Gonçalo de Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Piţurcă in the 97th minute of play. Emerald's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
