In the 35th minute, Sporting de Gijón's Angel Di Maria dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Ildefonso Frascuelo hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. 42 minutes into the match, DARAS's Toni Nenchev sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fausto George narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fausto George showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ildefonso Frascuelo, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Sandro Ormea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angel Di Maria in the 45th minute of play. Benigno Eriz's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Sandro Ormea firmly grabbed it by the left post. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Angel Di Maria was the one to do the kick off. Sandro Ormea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angel Di Maria in the 51st minute of the match. In the 54th match minute, DARAS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marc Apelkvist to maneuver through the defense. In the 56th match minute, DARAS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dobrin Mishev to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, DARAS's Ildefonso Frascuelo got a free kick in the 58th minute. After having played for 59 minutes, Mauro Perez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting de Gijón's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mauro Perez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Sporting de Gijón getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Angel Di Maria hit a great ball. Sandro Ormea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mauro Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Toni Nenchev in the 71stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Fausto George, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 75 played minutes DARAS got a freekick which was hit by Dragan Mangezov. Sporting de Gijón's Omar Etor was substituted for Bonifacio Oliverio. Dragan Mangezov kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Fausto George made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Toni Nenchev in the 78th minute of play. In the 79th minute, Ildefonso Frascuelo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toni Nenchev in the 81st minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Fausto George to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mauro Perez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandro Ormea having to interfere. Dobrin Mishev hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Angel Di Maria sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Marc Apelkvist kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when DARAS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bayındır Seyfullah didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sporting de Gijón were awarded a corner in the 97th minute after DARAS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mauro Perez took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Mauro Perez got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sandro Ormea quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
