Despite this Anastasios Perakis quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 16 minutes into the match, MKS Mazur Ełk's Filipo Inzaghi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anastasios Perakis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, MKS Mazur Ełk's Cezary Sitko got control of the ball when Panos Ntountas tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 19th minute, Filipo Inzaghi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The MKS Mazur Ełk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Filipo Inzaghi scored 0-3 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Anastasios Perakis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Theofilos Touboulis was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Filipo Inzaghi in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anastasios Perakis saved Olympiacos FC from getting behind. The supporters of Olympiacos FC booed when MKS Mazur Ełk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafal Ryback didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cezary Sitko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Theofilos Touboulis in the 58th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Filipo Inzaghi got free with Anastasios Perakis in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. MKS Mazur Ełk's Rafal Ryback was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Anastasios Perakis in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Olympiacos FC's Anastasios Perakis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filipo Inzaghi in the 82nd minute of play. 85 minutes into the game, Idacio Helguera was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MKS Mazur Ełk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Olympiacos FC the free kick. Idacio Helguera kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match.
