With a little luck, VB-Team's Osvaldo Vilaverde got control of the ball when Ion Balboa tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner led HORTALEZA FC's Valentín Buenafuente to fire away a dangerous shot which Osvaldo Vilaverde despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After 38 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for HORTALEZA FC! Carlo Sánchez had in the 39thth minute some difficulties stopping Luís Caeiro's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Luís Caeiro scored 0-2 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlo Sánchez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
