Dário Secco kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Goiás Esporte Clube's Oswaldo Figueiredo got a free kick in the 38th minute. Nova Venécia-ES's Luís Gustavo do Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgard Cabral in the 43rd minute of play. Mané Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enéas Leite in the 44th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.
