After a defensive mix-up in PERSPOLIS's zone, Murillo Bittencourt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgilio Marcilla came out of the goal and Murillo Bittencourt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arlindo Teixeira received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Virgilio Marcilla came out and tried to block the shot, but Arlindo Teixeira slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 28th minute. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Arash Lara put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Caio da Costa. Claudinei Ceresso got his second yellow card in the match during the 34th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of PERSPOLIS booed when Abutres 2003 FDP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinei Ceresso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abutres 2003 FDP's supporters crossed their fingers, but Murillo Bittencourt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 46 played minutes PERSPOLIS got a freekick which was hit by Curcio Torres. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Valdo Salas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
