Jewel Coats's late challenge caught a PERSPOLIS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jewel Coats helped the player get up and apologised. Jewel Coats kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Jaizki Lacorte could shoot a difficult shot in the 6th minute, which Jason Achin however easily saved by the left post. A collision led to PERSPOLIS getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Valdo Salas hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruce Morin in the 9th minute of play forced PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Virgilio Marcilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 12 minutes into the match, PERSPOLIS's goal looked a bit too open when Junior Stover came free, but Virgilio Marcilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jason Achin was out of position in the 15 minute of play, and Jaizki Lacorte capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jaizki Lacorte really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in PERSPOLIS's zone, Junior Stover stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgilio Marcilla came out of the goal and Junior Stover tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Jaizki Lacorte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Junior Stover to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Pedro León shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jason Achin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Junior Stover had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Virgilio Marcilla. PERSPOLIS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Junior Stover was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Hilario Slaughter hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 62 minutes into the match, PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Virgilio Marcilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Junior Stover. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Mario Dostie managed to get in a good position for a shot. Qikiqtarjuaq FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mario Dostie was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Virgilio Marcilla breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Junior Stover in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Virgilio Marcilla prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pedro León sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jason Achin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesario Bajo in the 75th minute of play. PERSPOLIS's Virgilio Marcilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save PERSPOLIS from getting a goal against them. 80 minutes into the game, PERSPOLIS's Valdo Salas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
