With a little luck, Sporting Clube Patrício's Almiro Setúbal got control of the ball when Diogo Yurin tried to sneak it across the goal line. 5 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when New England Minas's Diogo Yurin fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Martin Markusson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Santiago in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th match minute, New England Minas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clinton Caballero to maneuver through the defense. Miguel Santiago took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 14th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Martin Markusson. New England Minas's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Martin Markusson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandro Cortez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Santiago in the 16th minute of play forced New England Minas's goalkeeper Martin Markusson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. New England Minas's Martin Markusson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yuri Gaspar in the 17th minute of play. 18 minutes had been played when some careless play by New England Minas's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Miguel Santiago was slow to take the kick. During this time Sporting Clube Patrício's players had a chance to rest. Miguel Santiago made a great header on Sporting Clube Patrício's corner, it was just that New England Minas's Martin Markusson managed to reach the ball for a save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Romão Santos in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Martin Markusson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 23rd minute, Clinton Caballero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute Dallas Seymour shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Almiro Setúbal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th minute Yuri Gaspar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Martin Markusson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Miguel Santiago had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Martin Markusson. New England Minas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Miguel Santiago was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Chris Cabezon got free with Almiro Setúbal in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Horácio Chagas kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. 45 minutes into the game, Diogo Yurin recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Almiro Setúbal. Diogo Yurin showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Almiro Setúbal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fletcher Lund in the 48th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Miguel Santiago was the one to do the kick off. Greg Ciccaglione kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. After 52 played minutes, Sporting Clube Patrício's Juliano Simões shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Martin Markusson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Sporting Clube Patrício reached it. Almiro Setúbal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Cabezon in the 53rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chris Cabezon in the 55th minute of play forced Sporting Clube Patrício's goalkeeper Almiro Setúbal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Miguel Santiago was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 62nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. 69 minutes into the match, New England Minas's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Santiago came free, but Martin Markusson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Clinton Caballero during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to New England Minas getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Clinton Caballero hit a great ball. 72 minutes into the match, New England Minas's goalkeeper Martin Markusson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Miguel Santiago. Miguel Santiago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Martin Markusson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fletcher Lund struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Almiro Setúbal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New England Minas. Fletcher Lund fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Almiro Setúbal having to interfere. Martin Markusson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandro Cortez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Almiro Setúbal came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by New England Minas's Chris Cabezon. But to his dismay, Chris Cabezon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Almiro Setúbal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diogo Yurin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 93 minutes into the match, Diogo Yurin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Almiro Setúbal. Sporting Clube Patrício's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Diogo Yurin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. New England Minas's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
