Caton Carballido hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Benigno Sabina took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jefferson Mesquita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 10 minutes had been played when some careless play by Alvinegro Carioca's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Calle Hellström was slow to take the kick. During this time Boca Juniors's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Lorenzo Zurica got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Cássio Aguiar quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ronaldão de Carvalho hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Alvinegro Carioca's Cássio Aguiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Santos in the 18th minute of play. Benigno Sabina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermínio Ferraz in the 22nd minute of the match. After 22 minutes, Firmo Quiroga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Boca Juniors and the Alvinegro Carioca players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 22nd match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Firmo Quiroga to maneuver through the defense. Hermínio Ferraz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benigno Sabina having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Boca Juniors's zone, Carlos Augusto Sampaio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benigno Sabina came out of the goal and Carlos Augusto Sampaio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 32 minutes, Hermínio Ferraz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alvinegro Carioca and the Boca Juniors players grew even worse after the yellow card. Boca Juniors made a substitution. Regis Vuelta replaced Isak Qvalfeldt. In the 40th minute, Sidney Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 42 played minutes Alvinegro Carioca got a freekick which was hit by Léo Faria. The crowd rose to their feet as Lorenzo Zurica kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cássio Aguiar. That made the score 1-0 in the 45 minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Calle Hellström made a kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Benigno Sabina had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hermínio Ferraz. Alvinegro Carioca's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jefferson Mesquita in the 57th minute. The corner ended in Jefferson Mesquita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Boca Juniors's Benigno Sabina did a great save. 58 minutes into the match, Alvinegro Carioca's goal looked a bit too open when Lorenzo Zurica came free, but Cássio Aguiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benigno Sabina made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Hermínio Ferraz sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Alvinegro Carioca defense, Lorenzo Zurica kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cássio Aguiar. The Alvinegro Carioca fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cássio Aguiar should have stopped the shot. Cássio Aguiar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lorenzo Zurica in the 66th minute of play. Cássio Aguiar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Santos in the 76th minute of the match. Sidney Sousa kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Alvinegro Carioca's Cássio Aguiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lorenzo Zurica in the 80th minute of play. Cássio Aguiar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lorenzo Zurica in the 81st minute of play. Boca Juniors's Benigno Sabina proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Boca Juniors from getting a goal against them. 86 minutes into the match, Alvinegro Carioca's goal looked a bit too open when Calle Hellström came free, but Cássio Aguiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ildefonso Laredo kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Lorenzo Zurica's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cássio Aguiar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Santos in the 92nd minute of play forced Alvinegro Carioca's goalkeeper Cássio Aguiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvinho Brodel during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 95 played minutes Alvinegro Carioca got a freekick which was hit by Silvinho Brodel. Boca Juniors walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
