Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Elói Senna started the match with the kick off. Lúcio Domingues was a little too slow when Teodor Lucaci got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 7th minute. The score was now 1-0. After having played for 12 minutes, Hakan Şükür managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Politehnica Timisoara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hakan Şükür was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 13 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Luisão Matorin. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 19th minute, when Teodor Lucaci scored to the left of an out of position Lúcio Domingues, making the score, 2-0. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Nova Iguaçu MZFC's goalkeeper Lúcio Domingues, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luiz Fábio Leme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Tiberiu Mischie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Teodor Lucaci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lúcio Domingues was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Luca Voiculescu's late challenge caught a Nova Iguaçu MZFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luca Voiculescu helped the player get up and apologised. Luca Voiculescu kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hakan Şükür was the one to do the kick off. Lúcio Domingues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Costică Josan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Teodor Lucaci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lúcio Domingues was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Teodor Lucaci put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Lúcio Domingues. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Lúcio Domingues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodor Lucaci in the 60th minute of play. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Politehnica Timisoara's goalkeeper Tiberiu Mischie, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Teodor Lucaci recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. FC Politehnica Timisoara's Tiberiu Mischie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elói Senna in the 69th minute of play. 71 minutes into the game, FC Politehnica Timisoara's Sever Ghimpu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lúcio Domingues made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. After a defensive mix-up in Nova Iguaçu MZFC's zone, Sever Ghimpu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lúcio Domingues came out of the goal and Sever Ghimpu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lúcio Domingues showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teodor Lucaci in the 84th minute of the match. In the 85th match minute, FC Politehnica Timisoara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nichifor Borogeanu to maneuver through the defense. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Luiz Fábio Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The throw-in from Paulo Martini in the 92nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC Politehnica Timisoara's Nichifor Borogeanu. Many of Nova Iguaçu MZFC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Nova Iguaçu MZFC may have spent more time on the ball, but FC Politehnica Timisoara were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
