With an all-out effort, Atlético Minuano's Lúcio Domingues threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Waldemar Radziszewski, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Lúcio Domingues showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Waldemar Radziszewski, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Waldemar Radziszewski succeeded in the game's 37th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Lauro Torres charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lauro Torres the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 45 played minutes Atlético Minuano got a freekick which was hit by Lauro Torres. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Elói Senna was the one to do the kick off. Waldemar Radziszewski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 57 minutes into the game, one of Nova Iguaçu MZFC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Lúcio Domingues came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Minuano's Benedito Sergipano. But to his dismay, Benedito Sergipano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Marcelo Linares was out of position in the 70 minute of play, and Cássio Aparecido capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cássio Aparecido really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. 72 minutes into the match, Atlético Minuano's Lauro Torres sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lúcio Domingues narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fábio Leme in the 75th minute of play forced Atlético Minuano's goalkeeper Marcelo Linares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luiz Fábio Leme could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Marcelo Linares made a huge save. Lúcio Domingues stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lauro Torres's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Waldemar Radziszewski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Lúcio Domingues tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 91 minutes of play, Atlético Minuano's Waldemar Radziszewski made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lúcio Domingues was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Atlético Minuano had won after a very even match.
