GRÊMIO's Elpidio Gai got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 22 minutes into the game, Cleto Amor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GRÊMIO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo Mukenio the free kick. After 22 played minutes GRÊMIO got a freekick which was hit by Cleto Amor. Elpidio Gai's late challenge caught a Deportivo Mukenio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Elpidio Gai helped the player get up and apologised. Elpidio Gai hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Deportivo Mukenio's Angelo Pero got a free kick in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elpidio Gai in the 28th minute of play forced Deportivo Mukenio's goalkeeper Ruben Benvido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Liu Feng Guang to make the kick off. In the 60th minute, GRÊMIO's Arí Terra ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ruben Benvido. Ruben Benvido yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. In the 70th minute of the match, Arí Terra got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ruben Benvido was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Arí Terra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Liu Feng Guang managed to get in a good position for a shot. GRÊMIO's supporters rose to their feet, but Liu Feng Guang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ruben Benvido breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
